PsychologyWhiz is a researcher-developed web platform designed to support
event-triggered Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) protocols.
Participants report naturally occurring stressful experiences and receive
automated follow-up prompts at 15, 30, 60, and 120-minute intervals —
entirely through the browser, with no app to install.
The platform treats the entire study lifecycle as a first-class engineering
problem, integrating participant enrolment, window validation, scheduling,
notification delivery, and data export within a single unified architecture.
At its core is a commitment to privacy by design — participant
anonymity is enforced at the database schema level, making it structurally
impossible to store personally identifiable information.
Core Capabilities
Everything a longitudinal EMA study needs
🔒
Privacy by Design
GUID-based tracking. No PII ever stored.
🔔
Push Notifications
Browser-native. No SMS or email needed.
⚙
Auto Scheduling
Hangfire-powered background delivery.
⏰
Window Validation
Missed intervals recorded automatically.
📊
State Management
Finite-state machine governs each protocol.
🤡
Reusable Platform
Core services shared across all studies.
How It Works
From event report to completed protocol
1
Participant Enrolls
Researcher shares a unique anonymous link. No account or login required.
2
Stress Event Reported
Participant reports a naturally occurring stressful experience and completes a baseline assessment.
3
Follow-ups Scheduled
Platform automatically schedules four browser push notifications at 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes.
4
Protocol Completes
Assessments collected, validated, and recorded. Data available for export immediately.
🛡 Privacy Statement
Anonymisation is structural, not procedural
Unlike platforms that collect participant data and subsequently anonymise it,
PsychologyWhiz is architecturally incapable of storing personally identifiable
information. Privacy is enforced at the schema level, implementing Privacy by Design
(Cavoukian, 2009) and GDPR Article 25.
